About this tool

A JPG or PNG is made of pixels: enlarge it and it blurs. A vector (SVG) is made of shapes and curves, so it stays sharp at any size and each shape can be edited. This tool reduces the picture to the colours you choose, cleans tiny specks, then traces every colour's shapes into smooth curves. Fewer colours and more smoothing give a lighter, cleaner file; more colours keep more detail. Everything happens in your browser - your picture is never uploaded.

Questions

What is an SVG vector?

A picture made of shapes and curves instead of pixels. It stays sharp at any size - a logo on a visiting card or on a banner - and opens in Illustrator, CorelDRAW, Inkscape, Figma and cutting and embroidery software.

Which pictures give the best result?

Logos, prints, motifs, icons and drawings with clear shapes and a few flat colours. Photos also work but give many small shapes; choose fewer colours and more smoothing for a simpler file.

How many colours should I choose?

The number of flat colours the design has. Fewer colours = fewer shapes and a lighter file.

Can I leave out the background?

Yes - choose "Leave out" under Background and only the shapes of the design are kept, ready to place on any colour.

Is my picture uploaded?

No. It is traced inside your browser, on your own computer.
